The education of modern times which caters to meet only the physical requirements. But the ideal education of yore which besides taking care of physical necessities, also inculcated the spiritual and moral values, is slowly on the way out: What modern education teaches us is how to compete with others successfully, how to acquire maximum of consumer goods and how to beat others in the race. This fierce cycle of competition and one upman ship is leading our lives to disintegration, the main reason whereof is our utter selfishness and our ambition to get in the line of the top rich and the prosperous- resulting in the devaluation of the true meaning of human values of eminence. The tendencies of selfishness, egotism, envy and hatred are growing rapidly and consequently the valuable life of human being is struck with constant tensions and diseases leading to its constant downfall. It is aptly said that “while one’s body, affected with paralysis, can be cured to an extent, but no drug can cure a conscience or mind which is plagued by vicious thoughts. The scriptures say that it is only the education which transforms human arrogance, laziness or inertia, ego or hatred into compassion, sympathy and awareness. It is the catalyst which refines the human mind.
